Interaction between Micro-Amplitude Vibration and Thrust Force in Ultrasonic-Vibration-Assisted Drilling of Glass-Fiber-Reinforced Plastics

نویسندگان

چکیده

This research intends to investigate the effect and potential of ultrasonic vibration tools for drilling glass-fiber-reinforced plastics (GFRPs), especially with aim minimizing thrust force. As an important parameter characterize intensity, amplitude has a significant on force in ultrasonic-vibration-assisted (UVD) GFRPs. It been observed that also influences amplitude, which may eventually result failure vibration. In this study, method in-process measurement was introduced enable investigation interaction between UVD. investigated how variations influence each other from holistic individual perspectives. The critical condition identified ensure sufficient during drilling. Additionally, UVD experiments different amplitudes were carried out. revealed. can be concluded combination moderate force, low reduction ratio, high increases ratio secondly excessive undermines provides in-depth understanding UVD, helps further improve

Vibration Analysis of Glass Fiber Reinforced Composites

Glass fiber reinforced resol/vac-eha composites have been fabricated in laboratory to determine the dynamic behavior of glass fiber reinforced composites. Resol solution was blended with vinyl acetate-2-ethylhexyl acrylate (vac-eha) resin in an aqueous medium with varying volume fraction of glass fibers. The role of fiber/matrix interactions in glass fibers reinforced composites were investigat...

vibration drilling tool and thrust force investigation in vibratory drilling process of al 2024-t6

vibratory drilling (vd)process is a new modern technology where longitudinal wave with high frequency (more than 16 khz) and low amplitude (usually between 2 up to 30 µm) is superimposed on the movement of cutting tool, resulting in connection and disconnection of cutting tool engagement with workpiece. in this study, in order to perform vibratory drilling process, two vibration tools are desig...

Effect of chisel edge in ultrasonic assisted drilling of carbon fibre reinforced plastics (CFRP)

Ultrasonic assisted drilling (UAD) has been reported effective for thrust force reduction during drilling of CFRP resulting in lower exit delamination. However, this process is not fully understood in relation to machining theory. This work focused on understanding the separate effects of chisel and cutting edges during UAD in comparison with conventional drilling (CD). Experiments were perform...

Drilling of Fiber-Reinforced Plastics - Tool Modeling and Defect Prediction

Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites have been steadily replacing metals as choice engineering materials for various applications. Although FRPs can be manufactured to near-net shape, post processing operations such as machining are required to create some features (such as holes). In order to drill holes efficiently with the least waste and defects, it is essential to understand the machi...

Influence of ultrasonic vibration on micro-extrusion.

Micro-forming is a miniaturization technology with great potential for high productivity. Some technical challenges, however, need to be addressed before micro-forming becomes a commercially viable manufacturing process. These challenges include severe tribological conditions, difficulty in achieving desired tolerances, and short tool-life due to inability of available die materials to withstan...
